Galway Bay fm newsroom - A county councillor has slammed the omission of Galway from the Local Electoral Boundary review announced by the Government.
Terms of reference were set out over the past few days for two committees tasked with reviewing and making recommendations on local electoral areas nationwide.
The review is being undertaken ahead of local elections due to take place in 2019.
However, Galway and Cork have been excluded from the work of both committees.
Councillor James Charity believes this is due to ongoing uncertainty over the proposed union of Galway city and county councils.
The terms of reference state that the committees may be asked at a later date to examine the division of Galway and Cork into election areas.
Councillor Charity says Galway is being left in limbo and clarity is needed.
