Galway Bay fm newsroom - An emergency meeting called to discuss Galway's traffic crisis has been described as a 'political stunt.'
A special meeting convened to discuss the issue today has been deferred following heated exchanges at City Hall.
The decision followed major division between councillors over the lack of official reports.
The Council executive has now vowed to provide official reports on solutions to Galway's traffic issues at a meeting on Monday.
Consultants Aecom, who've been tasked with finding solutions to the gridlock, will also be in attendance.
Councillor Padraig Conneely, who proposed that today's meeting be deferred, said the special gathering was a 'political stunt.'
However, Fianna Fail councillor Mike Crowe is among a group of five councillors who had requested today's special meeting.
He says they have the interests of Galway's commuters at heart.
Meanwhile, prior to the meeting, over 100 Galway bus drivers marched on City Hall in a call for support for their campaign against pay cuts.
A motion put forward by Counillor Mark Lohan calling on the council to support the drivers has also been deferred to Monday's meeting.
