Galway Bay fm newsroom - City councillors are to meet with city officials in the coming weeks to discuss a new housing development planned for Ballybane.
Councillor Declan McDonnell, who's chairperson of the council's Housing Strategic Policy Committee, says the East Galway Residents' Association wants to ensure the housing development is well-managed and affordable.
He's arranged a meeting to discuss any further concerns councillors or locals may have in relation to the project.
The 50-home plan for Ballybane is one of a number of social or partially-social housing developments in the pipeline across the city.
Other plans include 70 homes off the old Monivea Road, hundreds of houses at Ardaun, 81 on the Headford Road and a further 20 homes in Renmore.
Councillor McDonnell says he's hopeful the meeting will address and resolve many of the issues raised by local residents.
