Galway Bay fm newsroom - A decision on whether to add the Garden of Peace at Tuam's former mother and baby home site to the Record of Protected Structures has been deferred.
Galway County Council’s conservation office recommended that the garden and the Tuam Martyrs Memorial at Tubberjarlath be included on the council’s protected register.
However, County CEO Kevin Kelly has recommended that following the recent confirmation that an unspecified number of babies and children are buried there, the site should not be considered for the RPS at this time.
