The Board of Management of St. Joseph's National School has secured planning permission for a new building on land close to Kilconieron GAA club.

The development would be a 2-storey ten classroom school with a new entrance.

The new school building would also have 27 car parking spaces and set down facilities and a new wastewater treatment plant.

As part of the new school development, there will be a new footpath connection to the village with a pedestrian crossing.

The county council has attached 15 planning conditions to the grant of planning permission.

One condition requires the developer to carry out an archaeological appraisal of the site.

Also during the construction stage, mitigating measures must be employed to ensure there are no adverse impacts on nearby European sites.
