Galway Bay fm newsroom - A controversial guest house planned for the city centre has been approved by the higher planning authority.
Donal Gallagher has been granted planning permission to change an existing end of terrace house in Woodquay into a guesthouse with 9 guest rooms.
This is despite opposition from local residents.

However, local residents appealed this decision to An Bord Pleánala raising concerns about blockages in the sewer network.
Despite these concerns, the higher planning board have granted approval for the new guest house.
The board decided that it would not injure the residential amenity of property in the vicinity.
There are 10 conditions attached to the grant of planning permission.
One condition stipulates that the developer must submit details of the parking layout and landscaping scheme to the planning authority before work begins.
