Galway Bay fm newsroom - A contractor is expected to be appointed shortly for a long-sought new pedestrian footbridge at Clarin College Athenry.
The matter arose at Athenry-Oranmore District level, where it was confirmed by senior engineers that "everything is ready to go".
Tenders were issued in July and have now been assessed, with the local authority awaiting the official appointment of the successful contractor.
It's expected once underway, the works will take around eight weeks to complete - though no provisional start date has yet been offered.
The footbridge was included in the original plans for the new school, but the works were excluded from the original contracts which led to long-running delays.
