Galway Bay fm newsroom - A contact tracing centre has been established at GMIT.
GMIT staff commenced work this week at the Dublin Road facility, which has been set up in partnership with the HSE.
Work is also ongoing to operate another contact tracing centre in the Mayo campus of GMIT in Castlebar.
Over 80 GMIT volunteers have been trained by HSE public health workers during the past two weeks to begin the work of both establishing the contacts of those who have tested positive for Covid-19 and to communicate with those contacts.
The college has also donated laboratory supplies and equipment to a number of hospitals as part of the effort.
