Galway Bay fm newsroom - The National Ambulance Service is to begin a process of consultation regarding the selection of a suitable location for an additional ambulance base in Connemara.
This will involve consultation with public representatives, GPs and the local campaign group between now and the end of October.
The Area Operations Manager of the NAS West will be responsible for identifying the location following certain criteria.
Last month, the Health Minister confirmed an investment to include funding for 11 extra staff and two extra vehicles.
The NAS has confirmed the additional services to be provided in Connemara will be resourced through the current paramedic interns who are due to graduate in December.
