Galway Bay fm newsroom - There was a big drop in attendance and tote betting for Ladies Day in Ballybrit, despite the glorious weather.
24,500 people went through the turnstiles for the first afternoon meeting of the festival, down 2000 on last year’s attendance.
Tote betting was also down significantly - but it was a much better day for the bookies, who saw an increase of around €400 thousand on last year.
