Thousands of acres of bogland and forestry have been destroyed by the blaze, which has been described as a once in a generation event.
Coillte and Air Corps aircraft have been dumping water to fight the fire.
But local farmer Kevin McDonagh of Seanapheistín says the community had to try put out the blaze without sufficient resources.
Detailed report coming up on NewsBreak at 1.30pm.
