Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Connemara-native faces deportation from the United States after a raid on his apartment in Boston.
The man in his late 20s was taken into custody following a raid on an apartment he shared with another Irish man in Quincy.
The Galway native shared an apartment with a Fermanagh man in the Quincy area of Boston.
Both men were taken into custody following a raid by U.S Customs and Immigration officers, when they were identified as undocumented immigrants.
The Fermanagh man was later released as he had a visa application in progress.
However the Connemara man is still being detained at Suffolk County House of Correction.
He had been due to appear before the courts on drink driving and other charges.
The Irish Consulate in Boston is providing assistance to the Galway man and his family ahead of his deportation.
