Galway Bay fm newsroom - Concerns have been raised over the Government's decision to appoint an interim CEO instead of a permanent CEO for Galway County Council.
Galway West TD Eamon O Cúiv has received confirmation from the Local Government Minister Darragh O'Brien that his Department does intend to appoint a permanent Chief Executive, however, a temporary CEO will be appointed from May 24th.
It comes as the current acting CEO Kevin Kelly is set to leave Galway County Council in May and take-up the Chief Executive position in Mayo County Council.
Deputy Ó Cúiv argues it's unacceptable that Galway County Council has been without a permanent Chief Executive position for several years.
The Fianna Fáil TD says he intends to raise the matter with Minister O'Brien again in April, at a meeting of local Fianna Fáil representatives organised to discuss ongoing financial issues in Galway's city and county councils.
