Concerns over plans to establish UHG as one of four main cardiac centres

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Concerns are being raised over potential plans to establish principal cardiac centres at four locations nationwide - including UHG.

It's after the National Review of Specialist Cardiac Services has been released by the Irish Times.

It also recommends that interventional cardiology services should be 'strengthened' at five regional hospitals.

But Deputy Denis Naughten has concerns that not enough thought has been given to the issue of access.

Speaking to Galway Talks he said early intervention is crucial - and he's concerned over these centralisation plans.
