Galway Bay fm newsroom - Frustration is being expressed at an alleged lack of progress on installing fencing along the N84 Headford Road to deal with wandering horses.
The long-running issue was raised again at this week's meeting of the Athenry-Oranmore municipal district by County Cathaoirleach James Charity.
He said he was recently driving along the road and was met by three galloping horses from the field adjacent to Barna Waste.
He warned there's a real perception that the matter is being forgotten about and a "blind eye" is being turned by the local authority.
Speaking in response, executive engineer Damien Mitchell said the project has been costed and plans have been drafted on the sections of the road to be fenced.
However, he said they are waiting on formal approval and direction from senior management before any works can get underway.
