Concerned residents to hold public meeting on plans for Portumna Forest Park

A group of concerned residents are to hold a public meeting in the coming weeks, on plans for the future development of Portumna Forest Park.

It follows a public consultation meeting in the town a fortnight ago, on a new 10 year strategy and masterplan.

Coillte and Bórd Fáilte say the park has “transformative” potential for far greater tourism and recreational use – but investment is needed.

But some locals say the deadline for submissions on the masterplan – which is this coming Wednesday – is far too short.

Speaking to Galway Talks, Maedhbh Gordon says it has to be extended so locals can have a chance to make an input.
