Galway Bay fm newsroom - Concerns are being raised over an almost total non-compliance with new AirBnB rules across Galway.
Just a handful of eligible AirBnB properties in the city and county have registered under new rules or applied for special planning permission.
Since July, these rules introduce limits on the number of days a primary home can be rented out, and require registration with local authorities.
Meanwhile, second properties which are not the primary residence must apply for 'change of use' planning permission for short-term lettings.
However, just 4 notices were filed for all of Galway - out of 1,600 advertised properties.
According to the Irish Examiner, the figures were obtained by Fianna Fail under the Freedom of Information Act.
More on the hour as Galway East Fianna Fail Deputy Anne Rabbitte says the new rules are fundamentally good measures, but useless without extra resources to actually ensure they are enforced.....
