Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Concerns have been raised over the "appalling" state of sections of the R446 between Oranmore and Craughwell.
The matter has been raised at Athenry-Oranmore municipal district level by Councillor Liam Carroll.
He said much of the poor surface condition on the Old Dublin Road is due to watermain works carried out by Irish Water between Oranmore and Loughrea.
However, he pointed out the R446 between Craughwell and Loughrea has been fully re-instated to an excellent standard.
He said the disparity is now so bad, the stretch between Oranmore and Craughwell is like entering a different country.
In response, council staff said plans are being progressed to repair the road surface in the near future.
Councillor Liam Carroll says the road between Oranmore and Craughwell has been left in an appalling condition for too long.
