Galway Bay fm newsroom - Repossession cases are on the rise across Galway and the wider western region.
That's according to Oranmore/Athenry councillor James Charity who says 104 repossession cases were listed in Galway Circuit Court last week alone.
There were a further 72 such cases recently listed for the Castlebar area.
Independent councillor Charity claims the inflexibility of vulture funds is a regular feature of such family home cases.
He says some purchased loan books for as low as 21 cent in the euro.
Councillor Charity says regulation of funds operating via credit servicing agencies remain a concern and a fresh policy approach is needed at Government level.
