Galway's marked daily increase of cases is in line with a surge in cases nationally.

The total number of confirmed cases in the city and county now stands at 595.

Last week a creche in Athenry closed due to two positive cases, while hurling and camogie fixtures over the weekend had to be postponed as teams had positive cases.

Meanwhile, the acting Chief Medical Officer has expressed concern at the increasing levels of Covid-19 in Donegal, Louth, and Waterford.

Dr. Ronan Glynn says it's vital people in all counties do all they can to break the chains of transmission over the next 7 days.
