Climate action group to hold protest in city this afternoon

Galway Bay fm newsroom - An environmental activist group will hold a 'die in' protest in the city today to highlight the threat of climate change.

Extinction Rebellion Galway is the local branch of the international activist group famous for their high profile climate protests in Ireland and the UK.

A 'die in' is a theatrical protest which involves everyone falling to the ground together as if dead.

The group hopes to highlight the risk of the extinction of humanity from air pollution due to fossil fuel emissions and climate change.

The protest will take place at 1pm this afternoon at the Spanish Arch in the city.
