Clifden RNLI assist yacht in difficulty near Inishbofin

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Clifden RNLI has rescued a yacht in difficulty near Inishbofin.

The incident occured last evening when a dinghy broke free from a yacht traveling to the island.

A crew member jumped onto the small boat only to find its engine would not start - and the remaining sailors were unable to assist as the yacht had no motor power.

Another yacht passing by came to their assistance - but the dinghy once again broke free as weather conditions began to deteriorate.

Clifden RNLI's Atlantic 85 lifeboat was dispatched to the scene and escorted the yacht crew to safety at Inishbofin.
