Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Senator Ollie Crowe has written to the city council's transportation executives calling for a full traffic audit, with a focus on junctions at the Headford Road.
The Fianna Fáil Senator says he received numerous representations regarding the level of congestion across the city yesterday with tailbacks reaching back from the Menlo Park Hotel to Woodquay, and on to Briarhill.
He argues it is clear that junctions on the Headford Road are not working, with the Menlo Park junction a key bottleneck.
Senator Crowe argues the lights need to be recalibrated and the whole junction reviewed.
He told Galway Bay fm news, the poor weather last evening brought more cars onto the road and led to long delays in the Headford Road area with many left waiting over an hour for a bus.
