City rents fall by more than 10 per cent over three months

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The average standardised rent in Galway city fell by more than 10 per cent in the final three months of last year.

That's according to the latest Residential Tenancies Board 'Rent Index' which also shows rents are now 15 per cent higher nationally than the peak in 2007.

The standardised average rent in the city at the end of December was 1 thousand and 64 euro a month and while there was a drop from the previous quarter, it was still more than 5 per cent higher than the same period in 2017

In the county, there was a similar drop in the last three months of 2018, with rents falling by 8.7 per cent.
