Galway Bay fm newsroom: A public meeting will be held in the city this evening to discuss the rising cost of car insurance.
The event is led by People Before Profit Galway which argues that young drivers, owners of older cars and taxi drivers are being hit the hardest.
Industry experts have maintained that high premiums are as a direct result of rising claims levels.
However the People Before Profit Group has questioned this assertion and claims the real source of the problem is greed for more profit.
The meeting takes place in the Western Hotel on Prospect Hill at 8 this evening.
Gary Hussey is local organiser - he says there is evidence that alleged increased claims are not behind rising premiums
