Galway Bay fm newsroom - A public meeting will be held in the city next week to discuss the accommodation needs of Travellers living across Galway.
The event is led by Galway Traveller Movement and the Galway Anti-Racism Network.
It will take place next Tuesday (21/03) at 7pm in the Connacht Hotel and will mark International Day Against Racism.
It comes as representatives of Galway Traveller Movement walked out of City Hall earlier this month during a heated discussion on the city Traveller Accommodation Plan.
Some councillors had been outlining their views that halting sites are a ‘failed concept,’ when two representives of GTM got up and left.
Joe Loughnane is Chairperson of the Galway Anti-Racism Network - he says the meeting aims to unite Travellers and the settled community in their accommodation demands.
