Galway Bay fm newsroom - A well known pub in the east of the city has failed to get its licence renewed following objections from local residents and the Gardai.
The Lantern Bar in Ballybane has been refused the licence at Galway courthouse
Over the past 12 months residents in the area made numerous complaints to Gardai about anti-social behaviour at the premises and in the surrounding areas.
Scenes of serious disorder and melees at the bar forced a group of concerned residents to lodge the objection to the licence renewal.
City Councillor Noel Larkin, who worked with the local residents in lodging the objection, says it was time to put an end to the disturbances:
