Galway Bay fm newsroom - A protest to voice opposition to the Mayor of Galway's planned trip to the US to meet Donald Trump will take place in the city on Wednesday.
The event is organised by local activist groups including Solidarity and the 'We the people' campaign.
Mayor Noel Larkin is one of 15 Irish delegates who received an invite to take part in a promotional tour of several US cities and meet with President Trump.
Mayor Larkin says it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an honor - and says his message for President Trump will focus on the undocumented Irish in America.
However, activists are accusing Mayor Larkin of attempting to justify taking an extravagent trip to the US at the expense of the public.
The protest will take place at City Hall on Wednesday at 1pm.
Conor Burke of Solidarity argues the visit sends a bad message internationally.
