Galway Bay FM Newsroom - The city council's refusal of a proposal for the change of use of residential apartments located at Prospect Hill, to an apart-hotel, has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
City planners refused the proposal concerning the City Point Apartments development located at 24 Prospect Hill last month.
In refusing the plan, city planners stated the proposal to reassign 17 residential units from a residential development consented for us in the long term private rental market, and located within a rent pressure zone, and move for use to short term tourist letting, would be considered unacceptable and contrary to housing strategy and policy within the city development plan.
It was stated that it would also reduce the supply and availability of long term accommodation in the city, where demand is high.
Applicant Cornacloy Property Holdings Limited has now appealed that decision to the higher planning authority.
An Bord Pleanála is due to issue its decision in July.
