Galway Bay fm newsroom - City officials are considering the installation of additional security measures following vandalism at Rahoon cemetery.
A significant amount of ornaments, affecting up to 20 graves in Section X, were broken sometime between last Thursday evening and Friday morning.
The damage was discovered by cemetery staff early last Friday morning.
It's understood city officials are now considering extra boundary fencing in a bid to improve security.
In recent months, a part 8 planning application to extend the cemetery was approved.
The additional fencing is being considered as part of the wider programme plan to extend the facility.
Gardai are investigating the incident and no arrests have yet been made.
