Galway Bay fm newsroom - A public demonstration to celebrate the European Union will take place in the city this afternoon (19/3).
Organisers say the event is inspired by the 'Pulse of Europe' citizens movement in Germany, which promotes the stability, rights and values offered by the EU.
They argue there is a need to stand against rising populism in Europe and anti-European ideas that have led to Brexit.
The public event will take place at Eyre Square at 3.

Activist Leonie Ester is urging anyone in Galway who believes in the EU to show their support.
