City events to mark 100th anniversary of end of First World War

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A series of events will take place in the city this weekend to mark 100 years since the end of the First World War.

The armistice was agreed between the allied powers and Germany at 11am on the 11th of November 1918.

This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of the armistice - which was signed on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, in 1918.

A series of events are taking place across the city to remember the end of what became known as 'The Great War'.
