City demonstration to call for access to jobs for asylum seekers

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A campaign group for asylum seekers says they can make a big contribution to Ireland's workforce.

The Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland is holding lunch time demonstrations today across the country, including Eyre Square, calling for broader access to the jobs market. (1pm)

It comes ahead of tomorrow's expected confirmation by the Supreme Court that they have a constitutional right to seek employment.

The movement says interim employment rights introduced by government greatly restrict the types of work asylum seekers can do.
