Galway Bay fm newsroom - City councillor Mike Cubbard has resigned from the Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative Committee.
Galway Traveller Movement withdrew from the group this week due to claims it's ineffective.
Independent councillor Cubbard says he's 'disappointed' at the withdrawal of members of the Galway Traveller Movement from the committee and describes the decision as regrettable.
He has moved to defend the work of elected members on the committee and says he has been working to try to find solutions to those facing an accommodation crisis.
He says he has issued a letter to the Director of Services noting he will no longer take part in the forum.
