City councillor calls for tourist information office in Salthill

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A city councillor is calling for a tourist information centre in Salthill.

Fine Gael Councillor Clodagh Higgins says the old tourist kiosk, based beside Galway Atlantaquaria, should be handed over to the Salthill Village Committee.

She says the committee has been instrumental in promoting Salthill for the past number of years and it's prepared to use the old kiosk to provide an information hub for visitors.

A planning application for a penguinarium at the site of the former tourism kiosk has just been refused by An Bord Pleanála.
