Galway Bay fm newsroom - Proposals have been put forward to make Galway safer for cyclists and pedestrians during the lockdown.
The Galway Cycling Campaign is calling for increased road space to be allocated to pedestrians and cyclists to ensure social distancing.
It comes as part of a wider national appeal from groups including the Irish Pedestrian Network and the Irish Cycling Advocacy Network.
The Galway group has suggested the local authority should install extra bike lanes and widen footpaths using cones, while traffic levels are reduced due to coronavirus restrictions.
It says Galway City Council should follow Dublin's lead in reallocating road space.
