Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway city council has passed a motion in support of a boycott of the Eurovision being held in Israel.
The motion led by Independent councillor Colette Connolly noted that "it will be openly used for political and militaristic propaganda purposes."
A petition asking Ireland's Eurovision entrant Sarah McTernan to pull out of the competition has also received 7-thousand signatures.
The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign has delivered the petition to the 25-year-old Clare native.
McTernan performs in the second semi-final on Thursday, with the first getting underway this evening.
Councillor Colette Connolly says the motion was brought in solidarity with the people of Palestine. To hear more, tune in to Galway Bay fm news on the hour...
