Galway Bay fm newsroom - City councillors have unanimously backed a motion calling on the government to implement a free school transport system for Galway.
The matter was discussed at a special meeting of the local authority last evening which focused on the city's chronic traffic issues.
Councillor Collette Connolly says the provision of a free school transport service would greatly alleviate the congestion faced by city residents and commuters.
She says an effective school bus system would greatly reduce the number of cars on the roads.
