City council investigating alternatives for €8m funding earmarked for aquatic centre

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway City Council is currently investigating alternative options for €8m in funding which had been earmarked for a regional aquatic centre.

The money was assigned to the proposed project at Cappagh Community Centre, but increased construction costs halted those plans.

The Department of Sport and Tourism had previously confirmed the money could be used for another sports-related project.

The City Council says it is currently looking into options, which would be subject to Department approval.
