Galway Bay fm newsroom - 218 children are currently waiting for access to vital mental healthcare in the West.
Freedom of Information figures (obtained by Newstalk) show that more than a quarter of those children have been waiting more than 26 weeks.
The figures incorporate hospitals across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
Nationwide, there are nearly 4,200 patients on the waiting list for CAHMS, which provides treatment for young people with moderate to severe difficulties.
While across the country, 141 children have been waiting over 18 months for crucial mental health treatment.
