The rural planning policy seen across Galway is too rigid, and is working against the very families that have farmed the land for generations.
That’s according to Cathaoirleach of the County Albert Dolan who believes if action isn’t taken soon the future of farming in areas like East Galway will be undermined.
Cathaoirleach Dolan says changes are needed in planning policy to maintain the viability of rural life in Galway.
Speaking to Chris Benn, the Cathaoirleach says it shouldn't be so difficult to build on your own land and continue what is the family business.
