Campaign launched in city to reduce single-use coffee cups

Galway Bay fm newsroom - A new campaign is being rolled out in Galway City this morning to reduce single-use coffee cups.

For a 3 month trial period, participating cafes will not sell any drinks in single use cups and instead provide beverages in reusable cups.

The "Use Your Mug" campaign will see them provided with 1,400 reusable containers by Galway City Council and Dublin-based firm '2GoCup'.

The 9 city cafés taking part in the initial trial are Mocha Beans, Temple Café, The Creamery, Rouge, Ces't la Vie, Anton's and Greens & Co.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Environmental Awareness Officer with Galway City Council, Tiarnan McCusker, explained the importance of the campaign.
