Galway Bay fm newsroom - A major campaign for urgent safety works to be carried out at Kilmeen Cross near Loughrea is gathering pace.
Representatives of the Kilmeen Cross Action Group, which is made up of local residents, made a presentation to Loughrea area councillors at a meeting this afternoon.
The group is highlighting the growing frustration of locals over what they say is a badly-signposted, dangerous junction.
The Kilmeen Cross junction is the point where the N65 turns off towards Portumna, coming out of Loughrea town.
As the N65 is a national secondary route, any works to take place there fall under the remit of Transport Infrasture Ireland.
The County Council has committed to putting pressure on TII to address the issue at a meeting at County Hall tomorrow.
