Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway Minister has called on Transport Infrastructure Ireland to visit a problematic junction in East Galway at night, so as to better understand local safety concerns.
Kilmeen Cross in Loughrea has been the subject of a long running safety campaign by locals.
Campaigners have long called for road lighting at the turn off, which they describe as an extremely dangerous junction on the N65, several kilometres from the town.
While TII has committed to extensive safety improvement works at the junction, it has not supported calls for lighting to be installed.
Minister of State and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon says the TII need to see for themselves how dangerous approaching the junction at night can be.
