Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are calls for Transport Infrastructure Ireland to carry out urgent flood relief works in Claregalway following heavy rainfall at the weekend.
Cathaoirleach of Galway County Council James Charity says the transport body must proceed with the works at Claregalway which were approved by the local authority as part of a scheme in July 2019.
It comes as flooding along the N83 yesterday caused major traffic congestion in the area as cars were forced into the middle of the road to avoid surface water.
Councillor Charity says significant works were scheduled to take place last summer including under road drainage and the construction of an overflow plant.
He is seeking a meeting with the TII and says the organisation needs to provide an update on the timeline for delivery of the vital works...
