It comes as a report is due to be published on the condition of water management systems at the Spanish Arch area in the coming months.

Fianna Fáil City Councillor John Connolly called for the report to be commissioned after he was presented with video footage which, he claims, appeared to show raw effluent exiting into the water at the Long Walk during the summer.

A full condition survey was scheduled to be conducted to assess the structural integrity of a foul water holding chamber.

The survey has been delayed, however, and only resumed in the past week.

Councillor Connolly says it's vital that funding be provided to Irish Water to carry-out any necessary repairs once the report is published in 2021.
