Calls for IDA to step-up efforts to secure more jobs for Tuam

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are calls for the IDA to step-up its efforts to create more jobs in Tuam.

Galway East TD Sean Canney is calling on the development agency to attract industry to Tuam as a matter of priority.

It follows the announcement of 60 job losses at Valeo Vision Systems - a decision which is believed to relate to a downward trend in sales at the firm as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Canney has described the situation at Valeo as 'a reality check' that demonstrates the need to expand the employment base in the town.

He says the Tánaiste has confirmed the Valeo facility is staying in the town and now is the time for the IDA to prioritise further investment for Tuam...
