Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway City Council should be carbon neutral within three years according to a city councillor.
Cllr Alan Cheevers has called on the local authority to set in place a number of ambitious targets in order to reach the goal by 2023.
These include the installation of solar panels at city hall, hydro electric generators on Galway's Waterways and transferring council vehicles to electric or bio diesel.
Cllr Cheevers says the local authority should take more responsibility in relation to climate change.
