Galway Bay fm newsroom - There are calls for Galway City Council to develop a new access road at the rear of the Roscam estates.
Fianna Fail City Councillor Alan Cheevers argues additional access is needed on the Coast Road side to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
Currently there is only one entry point to the Roscam estates from Doughiska Road Lower; adjacent to the Castlegar GAA grounds.
Councillor Cheevers is calling on the City Council to seek Department of Transport funding to develop a new entry point which would tie-in with a pathway and cycle-lanes to Oranmore train station.
He says new infrastructure is needed in the area given the high volume of residents living there.
