Galway Bay fm newsroom - Talks are underway to secure the Galway International Arts Festival gallery as a permanent public space.
The gallery is located at a building, owned by An Post, off William Street and at the back of Eglinton Street in the city.
The space is home to the festival's visual arts programme and this year features an exhibition from Australian artist, Sam Jinks.
Galway West TD Hildegarde Naughton held a meeting with Minister Richard Bruton, An Post CEO, David McRedmond and Arts Festival CEO, John Crumlish to discuss the possibility of maintaining the gallery year round.
